Different Vegan & Vegetarian Lifestyles

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2025.ÂIt’s truly a pleasure to be writing for Wow magazine again.ÂI am excited to share the different vegan and vegetarian lifestyles in this issue of WOW! Magazine. I adopted the vegan lifestyle for health reasons 22 years ago and am the author of Sensational Vegan Recipes Cookbook.ÂThe vegan lifestyle has become more popular over the years.ÂHowever, there has been a lot of confusion regarding the different types of vegan and vegetarian diets.ÂIn the issue, I will break down the various types of diets to help you understand the difference between them.

There are a lot of vegan products on the market, but you must read the labels because not every product with the word vegan on it is 100 percent vegan.ÂA vegan diet excludes all animal products. A vegan diet also excludes dairy, eggs, and cheese. The vegan diet consists mostly of nuts, legumes, seeds, grains, leafy greens, sprouts, fruits, and beans.ÂSome people follow a vegan diet for ethical, health, or environmental reasons.ÂHowever, a raw food diet is different from a vegan diet. A raw food diet excludes all animal products, dairy, and cheese.ÂThe diet focuses on eating only raw and unprocessed foods, that have not been heated over 104–118°F (40–48°C.)ÂA dehydrator is used to dehydrate the food.ÂA raw food diet also consists of juicing, sprouting, and blending the food.

Regarding the vegetarian diet, there are several different types of vegetarian diets, and each of them has its restrictions.ÂA Lacto-Ovo-vegetarian is a diet that eliminates fish, poultry, and meat, but includes dairy products and eggs.ÂHowever, the Lacto-vegetarian diet eliminates poultry, meat, eggs, and fish, but includes dairy products.ÂThe Ovo-vegetarian diet eliminates fish, poultry, and dairy products, but this diet includes eggs.ÂSome people follow a Pescatarian diet which includes fish but eliminates poultry and meat.Â

The plant-based diet has become very popular lately, and several people have adopted that diet. A plant-based diet is not considered vegan because the diet includes some animal products.ÂThe diet includes high amounts of vegetables, fruit, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds.

Gluten-free is also a popular diet.ÂGluten is a type of protein found in barley, rye, wheat, and spelt.ÂGluten is a glue-like substance that helps to give bread a chewy texture.ÂSome people are allergic to gluten, so they eliminate products made with barley, rye, wheat, and spelt, and buy products that are

gluten-free.

I hope this information will help to give you a better understanding of the different types of diets.
