It’s harvest time, but not the usual harvest. We are harvesting the health and wellness outcomes for the seeds that we have planted and nurtured throughout the year. However, before we discuss the harvest let’s take a look at planting season.
Let’s get ready to plant!
As a gardener approaches planting season, it is important to strategically plan the crops that you want to grow Our lives are fertile grounds, and the seeds we plant, water, and nurture determine the harvest we reap.
What seeds were important to you during your planting season? What seeds were you looking to plant? Seeds of hope, peace, joy, happiness, fulfillment? Let’s explore these further:
Hope: What were your hopes? A new opportunity, personal, professional or both?
Peace: What did your seed of peace contain? A mind free from worry, fear, anxiety. A mind focused on the word of God.
Joy: Seeds of joy, I imagine would hold clarity of mind, a light spirit and an effortless ebb and flow to life during all seasons of life.
Happiness: A seed of happiness like joy helps a person find positivity, contentment, and satisfaction in all walks of life.
Fulfillment: The seed of fulfillment holds a lasting sense of wholeness, a value in one’s life that has a sense of purpose. The strength and ability to find a culmination of peace, joy, and happiness in one sitting.
No matter what seed you have planted, proper nurturing is what helps it grow. Feeding and meditating on the word of God is the most effective way to nurture these seeds to produce a robust harvest of wellness in mind, body, and spirit.
The Growth Process
Now that you’ve planted your seeds it is time to tend to and nurture them. Here are scriptures that will help facilitate growth.
Hope:Hope is our wish and belief that our desires can truly be ours when we hold hope in our hearts. Hope helps us activate our faith. Reading and meditating on Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
This scripture reminds us that God is focused on us. Reciprocating our focus on him by reading and meditating on this word, activates the hope that he has for us.
Peace: In a world of constant change and uncertainty, obtaining and protecting your peace is necessary. John 14: 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid, is a perfect way to nurturing our seeds of peace.
Joy: The challenges and the climate of our current world make joy an elusive experience. However, in the face of it all joy is the one thing we all aspire to. Psalms 16:11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” reminds us that through it all, the good, the bad the ugly, the indifference God is still with us. God never moves; we do. If we stay still, knowing that He is God, joy can be at our fingertips.
Happiness: Like joy, happiness can be elusive and fleeting but not impossible to find. Planting seeds of happiness, like other seeds of personal growth and self-improvement requires well thought out, accurate plans. The scripture that helps us nurture this seed can be found in Proverbs 16:20 which states: “He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he”. This verse encourages prudence and wisdom in managing affairs, as it leads to positive outcomes, and emphasizes that happiness is found in trusting and depending on the Lord. (Bible Hub.com).
Fulfillment: A fulfilled life is a dream that we all aspire to because fulfillment means different things to different people. No matter what you aspire to, God is the constant is achieving the goal of ultimate fulfillment. Psalms 20:4-5 “May He grant you according to your heart’s desire And fulfill all your purpose. We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions”
” This passage encourages believers to trust in God’s power, celebrate His victories, and know that He will answer their prayers.” (Google Overview).
