Waiting can feel like life’s hardest challenge, especially when we are expecting our situation to improve. Whether we’re believing God for healing, a new job, marriage restoration, or answers to long-held prayers, it is tempting to want to give up. Yet, we often have no choice other than to wait, and face the real test in how we wait. Do we complain or talk negatively about the waiting period? Do we pick up old vices and bad habits that pull us further away from God’s best for us? Do we turn to people in hopes that they can fill the void of the wait, or even just serve as a convenient distraction? In our waiting, we must learn how to remain steadfast in faith, trusting that God is working even in silence. We should not allow distractions to pull us away from His plan.
How to Wait with Faith
The waiting season is an opportunity for growth. Here are five biblical truths to hold onto as you trust God’s timing:
Remember God’s Promise to Always Be With You: “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” — Hebrews 13:5
Trust in God’s Faithfulness to Complete His Work: “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” — Philippians 1:6
Know That God Does Not Withhold Good Things: “No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” — Psalm 84:11
Lean on God for Strength While You Wait: “They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength.” — Isaiah 40:31
Let Patience Do Its Work: “Let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” — James 1:4
Surrender Your Plans and Ideas to God: “Commit to the Lord Whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.
Embrace the Process
Instead of focusing on the delay, learn to enjoy the journey, and understand that the process is necessary. Begin to see all that God is doing while you’re in transition. He often uses this time to refine, prepare, and draw us closer to Him.
When waiting feels unbearable, return to God’s promises and immerse yourself in his Word. Trust that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it. Stay steadfast in hope, and remember you’re never waiting alone.
